Still Naked

The world was still, until I bit it
Its quiet veiled in grace
I mouthed the truth, seed and memory
Bitter juice running down my face

Now we're naked
Flesh ornate with deceit
Eyes unshut, we read the conceit
Why punish your children, for seeing too deep

You called us flawless
Then built a trap to waste
You fed us hunger
Then damned us for the taste

Yes, we are naked
Our bodies still bright
But our tongues are bound by your thin lies of guilt
Why strike us with fury, for what we felt
If virtue needs a blindfold, then grace is only rule
Your paradise was silence, and silence makes a fool

We are still naked
We wear your shame
We forgot the fruit, yet you whisper our blame
This is what remains, when the glory is gone
